Celebrating 75 Years: BSP Releases 750-Piso Silver Commemorative Coin

On September 2, 2024, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) officially released its 750-Piso Silver Commemorative Coin through the BSP Store to mark its 75th anniversary. The launch was scheduled for 1:00 PM Philippine time. However, many eager collectors were met with frustration as the BSP Store website became inaccessible at the scheduled release time.
It remains unclear whether the downtime was due to a surge in web traffic or an unexpected technical issue, but the store eventually became accessible again after business hours—allowing collectors a chance to finally secure their orders.
About the 750-Piso Silver Commemorative Coin
This limited-edition silver coin is one of two commemorative coins minted to honor BSP's 75 years of central banking. The second is a 7500-Piso Gold Coin.
Both coins are notable for their colorized design and distinctive octagonal shape, which pays homage to the eight rays of the sun on the Philippine flag. This design was previously used on the 2023 125th Kalayaan 100-Piso Commemorative Coin, and has become a modern and symbolic motif in BSP's recent commemorative releases.

1999 – BSP’s 50th Anniversary: 500-Piso Commemorative Coin

Both the 1999 and 2019 issues were also denominated at 500 piso, but the 2024 release stands out with a higher denomination and enhanced design features, reflecting the bank’s growth and modernization.
